CENTEX ASPA Will Conduct its Public Service Recognition Week Awards Luncheon on Saturday May 18, 2024

CENTEX ASPA will conduct an in-person Awards Luncheon in honor of Public Service Recognition Week from 12:00 Noon – 2:00 pm on Saturday May 18, 2024, at Palmer’s Restaurant in San Marcos, Texas.

At the Luncheon, awards will be presented to faculty and students at Texas State University’s Master of Public Administration (MPA Program), Texas A&M University’s George Bush School of Government and Public Service and the University of Texas LBJ School of Public Affairs. A new award in honor of former Texas Lt. Governor, Bill Hobby, The William P. Hobby Distinguished Service Award will also be presented to a public servant who has dedicated his career to public service.

The CENTEX ASPA Public Service Recognition Week Awards Luncheon is being sponsored by Texas State University’s William P. Hobby Center for Public Service. Participating academic programs from area universities include Texas A&M University’s Bush School of Government and Public Service, the University of Texas LBJ School of Public Affairs and Texas State University’s Master of Public Administration (MPA) Program.

The Luncheon program will begin at about 12:00 Noon with a meet and greet reception which was followed by a plated lunch for the attendees. The awards program will end about 1:30 pm and will be followed by a brief meeting of CENTEX ASPA Officers and Governing Board Members to discuss selection of program events and activities for 2024/2025 calendar years.

The featured speaker at the Awards Program will be Dr. Jeremi Suri, Mack Brown Distinguished Chair for Leadership in Global Affairs & Professor of Public Affairs and History. The title of his presentation will be “What Does Public Service Mean in 2024?”.

At the luncheon, distinguished service awards will be presented to outstanding faculty. In addition, students from the Texas State University MPA Program and Texas A&M’s Bush School will be recognized for public administration scholarships that they receive. In addition, students will be inducted into Pi Alpha Alpha, the Global Honor Society for Public Affairs and Administration.

The cost of the luncheon will be $45 per person. Award recipients and honorees will have their lunch paid for by Texas State University’s William P. Hobby Center for Public Service. Guests of honorees and other attendees will be able to pay for lunch at the door when they arrive at Palmers on Saturday May 18, 2024. Space is limited so the deadline for registering for the Luncheon at Palmers is 5 pm Friday, May 10, 2024.

ASPA’s Section on Public Management Practice in Cooperation with e.Republic, The Section for African Public Administration, and Texas State University’s William P. Hobby Center For Public Service have scheduled an In-Person Symposium at the ASPA National Conference on Saturday April 13, 2024.

On Saturday April 13, 2024, ASPA’s Section for Public Management Practice (SPMP) in cooperation Good Governance Worldwide, e.Republic, the Section on African Public Administration and Texas State University’s William P. Hobby Center for Public Service will conduct an in-person Symposium which features an outstanding list of speakers on the topics of Artificial Intelligence (AI), the Texas Certified Public Manager (CPM) Program and Good Governance, Public Policy and Administration in Africa.

The Symposium is entitled, Meeting the Global Public Policy & Public Administration Challenges of the next Decade.

On October 27th, the CENTEX Chapter of ASPA in cooperation Good Governance Worldwide, e.Republic and Texas State University’s William P. Hobby Center for Public Service conducted an in-person Symposium which featured an outstanding list of speakers primarily on the topic of Artificial Intelligence (AI). In addition to the AI, presentation, Harvey Kronberg, noted political analyst and editor in Chief of the Quorum Report, gave the audience a timely review of Texas Politics, Policy & Government.

The Symposium, which was entitled, Meeting the Public Policy & Public Administration Challenges of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the next Decade was live streamed and recorded.
